Job Opening: Associate Creative Director

Marketing Department, Inc., the region’s leading marketing agency, is growing and adding a strategic leader, namely an Associate Creative Director, to their team in Houghton, Michigan. Clients of the agency are in B2B fields, healthcare and banking industries. We work deeply with our clients to grow business and get results. The ideal person for this position has a rich background of developing effective strategies and experience leading a team to deliver results.

The Associate Creative Director is part supervisor and producer.

This person will assist the Creative Director with direction to the production team and contractors on multiple design projects. The Associate Creative Director is a leader, a creative mind, highly energetic and a project manager all in one. This person is an experienced writer and strategic thinker. In this position, you will work under the direction of a very seasoned Creative Director and will often supervise many employees.

Compensation/Benefits. For the right candidate, this position can be full-time or at least 30 hours a week with a flexible schedule. This position starts at $55,000 annually (and is based on portfolio) with excellent healthcare benefits, retirement match, unlimited time off and an energizing, modern work environment located in the heart of downtown Houghton.

What you need to succeed. The Associate Creative Director is ultimately responsible for driving great work quickly by supervising the production team to deliver high-quality projects for our clients that meets the objectives and strategies provided by the Creative Director. This person will have experience writing, managing or executing work for different purposes:

  • press releases, stories, social media, research & strategy summaries, proposals, etc.
  • organic and paid content on all digital platforms (web, SEO, email, social media)
  • web development opportunities, best-practices and restrictions, keyword management and SEO
  • digital & traditional advertising, print & business collateral, video & photography, press releases & stories

Design Concepts. You will work alongside the VP Strategy & Creative Services to develop strategies and concepts for branding, marketing materials, public relations, campaigns and various projects. You will make conceptual and stylistic decisions. Providing direction to the production team and subcontractors on all projects.

Manage Projects. You will oversee details on multiple projects at one time. This will include managing teams, creating timelines, overseeing design direction and ensuring all deadlines are met. You will work with the account manager to confirm clients are satisfied with results and troubleshoot any opportunities that may arise in the duration of the project. You will also act as quality control for projects by reviewing and editing your team’s final products before distribution of any materials occur.

Conduct Research. You will stay abreast of the latest trends and social media fads. To best serve the production team, you will continually research marketing trends, strategies and technologies used in advertisement practices. You must be able to recognize your intended audience and the best strategies for reaching that audience. You must also be aware of what competitors are doing in order to create innovative and new designs and concepts.
