Opportunity: Loadmaster manufactures and sells garbage trucks all over America. Their vehicles are superior and built to last. However, their marketing didn’t amplify that idea. As they prepared to expand their sales network, they needed to appear competitive and more memorable.

New Look & Feel

Using their website as the platform, we took their brand to another level by:

  • Creating more product-focused imagery with “sexier” images of their garbage trucks
  • Developing a brand promise “Proven for America’s Toughest Routes”

We provided them with distinct language, visuals and positioning that they could carry through their promotions and advertising.

Eagle Mine

Opportunity: Eagle Mine, a nickel and copper mine near Marquette, Michigan, is committed to providing the community with information about their project through tours and community outreach programs. But the mining process is extremely technical and complex, involving many factors — communication must be very concise.

Script & Story Board

First, we had to become mining experts, so we toured the mine and mill and read lots of technical papers. From what we learned, we broke down the entire mining process and wrote a script that educated people about the importance and complexity of mining.

Results

We designed and produced a five-minute animated video that explains mining, so people ages 5–100 can understand and appreciate the process.

Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians

Opportunity: Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Community Health received a grant to improve the overall health of the general population in the seven-county region they serve, by providing health education and tools to encourage healthy lifestyle options and smoking cessation.

Public Relations & Community Outreach

We conducted extensive research to better understand their competitive advantage then designed a multi-strike growth and branding campaign.

Campaign Platform

We started the process by creating a memorable brand and campaign platform. Then, we consistently expanded the campaign through advertising and educational materials.

Results

They’ve successfully reached all of the grant requirements. However, the real success to us is that together we’ve influenced thousands of residents to make healthier lifestyle choices.

When we met Calumet Electronics nearly eight years ago, they were an unrecognized brand in the printed circuit board industry. At that time, they had 135 employees and urge to grow. They hired our team to develop growth strategies that will increase revenues and attract great people.

Research gave us the direction we needed to validate a new market and position them to attract business from the defense and aerospace sectors. Along the way we learned that the industry was cluttered and dry – no one competitor or leaders stood out. So, we went to work and developed a message platform and new brand that promoted their competitive differences; commitment to American manufacturing and community, focus on engineering quality and continuous capital investment.

Opportunity: MTEC SmartZone is a business incubator missioned by the State of Michigan to create jobs. Our challenge was to create a brand that large companies, community members and entrepreneurs can feel connected to.

While conducting secondary research to better understand their industry and find effective trends, we also contacted more than 500 U.P. residents to learn their perceptions, ideas and processes regarding healthcare. We learned a lot and put that data to work as we jumped into the creative process.

Results

We are proud of MTEC SmartZone and their accomplishments. Six F-100 companies moved offices here, 23 new companies started and over 500 jobs have been created since MTEC SmartZone entered the marketplace. Now their brand is one of the most locally recognized in the area.

Blue Terra Energy

Opportunity: Blue Terra Energy wanted to leverage themselves as “energy experts” to set them apart from their competitors statewide.

Branding Development

We developed their branding from scratch, creating a logo, tagline and website that clearly communicated their passion for saving energy. We conducted focus groups and administered consumer surveys to raise awareness and find out what residents’ energy usage habits were.

Statewide Ad Campaign

From the feedback collected, we developed a consumer direct mail campaign that reached close to one million residents in Michigan. We promoted Blue Terra Energy’s energy-saving kit installation program, leveraging 5,000 successful installs.
